This summer I had the opportunity to stop by Crumbs Bakery in Boston’s Financial District. Some of you may have thought they were closed but the cupcake chain has re-opened half their shops and are under new management. The bakery has many unique cupcake flavors to choose from including Red Velvet, Cookies & Cream, Peanut Butter Cup, Apple Cobbler, Carrot and Vanilla Coconut to name a few. I went with the Cookies & Cream cupcake which has a chocolate base topped with vanilla cream cheese and crushed chocolate cookie sandwich frosting. There was also an actual chocolate sandwich cookie as garnish!
The chocolate cake base was not too sweet which I liked but it was also very basic. I felt like I was eating a boxed chocolate cake which I’m not knocking; I’m simply stating the base wasn’t spectacular. The frosting was tasty and I enjoyed the ganish. The cupcakes are pretty big so it’s hard to eat neatly but what’s the fun in eating dessert neatly anyway?! I’ll definitely go back to try a few other flavors. All in all, I give the Cookies & Cream cupcake a DELISH.
Oh I forgot to mention they have giant cupcakes for special occasions!
Have you tried any of Crumbs Bakery cupcakes? Which flavors have you enjoyed or would like to try? Let me know in the comments!
